Milano perfetta per la finalissima mancavano solo il Milan e l'Inter

È una città perfetta quella che ha accolto le migliaia di tifosi madrileni per l’attesissima finale di Champions vinta dal Real ai rigori. Milano era pronta. Bella, sotto il sole (la pioggia è arrivata nella notte), efficiente come un po’ da tempo in qua ci ha abituati. La coppa è stata esposta in piazza Duomo, attirando la curiosità di una grande folla di tifosi. Una versione giga domina invece sul luogo più caldo della movida ambrosiana, la Darsena. Lo stadio è stato rimesso a nuovo, ed è tornato ad essere per una sera quel fantastico catino a strapiombo sul prato verde che negli anni d’oro i tifosi milanesi hanno ben conosciuto.

Tutto bene dunque, tranne un dettaglio: Milano, nel senso delle sue squadre, è sparita dalla scena del grande calcio. Un dettaglio che ferisce nell’orgoglio e un po’ umilia, anche perché la finale di sabato sera ha detronizzato Milano da un record che deteneva proprio insieme a Madrid. Sono le due città che hanno incamerato più Coppe dei Campioni, ben dieci a testa. Quelle di Madrid sono tutte nella bacheca del Real. Quelle di Milano invece sono suddivise, seppure in maniera molto asimmetrica: sette del Milan e tre dell’Inter. Comunque vadano le cose Madrid con la finale di ieri sera è salita a 11 coppe mentre per Milano le prospettive di tornare nel giro del calcio che conta e di giocarsela ai massimi livelli sono molto, molto lontane.

Ormai sono sei anni che Milan e Inter si sono eclissate nei piani bassi delle classifiche Uefa. L’ultima coppa ha ormai sei anni (Inter, proprio a Madrid); mentre il Milan si avvicina ai dieci anni a bocca asciutta (ultima coppa ad Atene 2007): nell’era Berlusconi non si era mai vista una simile astinenza.

In tanti si chiedono il perché del declino del calcio milanese proprio mentre la città sta vivendo una stagione d’oro, a tanti livelli: il successo dell’Expo lo scorso anno; gli spettacolari cantieri che hanno cambiato lo skyline; la capacità di attrazione che ne ha fatto quartiere generale europeo per molte multinazionali. Tutto corre a Milano, tranne il pallone. Negli anni '60, quando Milano aveva vissuto il suo boom, invece crescita della città e successi sportivi erano andati di pari passo. Tra 1962 e 1968 erano arrivate ben quattro coppe dei Campioni, due per parte. E San Siro era davvero la Scala del calcio a cui tutti guardavano con ammirazione e quasi timore.

La Milano di oggi è una città che si offre un po’ tristemente come magnifica infrastruttura per il successo di altri. I tifosi madrileni, madrilisti e conchoneros, oltre a godere per la partita (soprattutto chi vincerà) hanno potuto vivere una città tirata a lucido. Certo una città un po’ cara, perché i prezzi sono alle stelle. Ma certo uno scenario perfetto per vivere una serata indimenticabile.

Milanisti e interisti staranno invece a guardare. E a pensare con nostalgia a quando erano loro a infilare cinque gol nella porta del Real (9 aprile 1989: Ancelotti, Rjikard, Gullit, Donadoni, Van Basten). Oppure a quando erano loro ad invadere le metropoli spagnole per celebrare i fasti del calcio ambrosiano. Nel 1989 fu il Milan a travolgere Barcellona in occasione della prima coppa dell’era Berlusconi: fu il più grande esodo di tifo calcistico della storia. Nel 2010 gli interisti invece conquistarono Madrid: e tutti ricordano le lacrime di quella notte, quando la coppa arrivò dopo cinque consecutive vinte dai cugini...
